Although John Le Mesurier is probably best remembered for his porthayal oh the dozy Sergeant Wilson in the television comedy series “Dad´s Army”, his career spanned fifty years of theatre, film and television. he began acting after brief course at the Fay Compton Studio of Dramatic Art, moving straight into rep and from there to the world of film and television, winning recognition in productions such as THE PUNCH AND JUDY MAN with Tony Hancock, the PINK PANTHER, and more recently A MARRIED MAN with Anthony Hopkins.

A JOBBING ACTOR is Le Mesurier´s own account of those years of the life before he became an actor, and of hid relationships with co-stars and with his former wives June Melville and Hattie Jacques and with his wife Joan.
